

Floyd Irvin Herman was born Feb. 25, 1928 in McGrew, Morrill County, NE and passed away on Dec. 16, 2013, following a three week illness, while seeking care at the hospital hospice center in Laramie, WY.
He attained the age of 85 years,9 months and 21 days. As per his request, he was cremated. Graveside services will be held Sat. May 24, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at Oregon Trail Cemetery in Bridgeport, NE. with
Pastor Jonathan Seng officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Sons of the American Legion and the U.S. Naval Honor Guard. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.bbchapels.com. Bridgeport Memorial Chapel assisted the family with arrangements.
Floyd was the second child born to Irvin and Mildred (Jessup) Herman. His siblings were Helen, Dale, Delmar and Sylvia.
He attended high school at Bridgeport, after which he joined the United States Navy and was honorably discharged on Dec. 18, 1947. He worked on various ranches. He later managed a propane plant in Pinedale, WY, then transferred to Kemmerer, Wy. He also worked at a sawmill in Fox Park, Wy, as a plant operator.
Floyd loved riding bucking horses and attending rodeos, big game hunting in the Teton Mountains as well as fishing. After retirement, he spent the rest of his life in Laramie. While in Laramie he served for six years as the commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2221. He was a lifetime member of that organization.
He was united in marriage to Shirley (Laughlin) Watson in 1953 and to this union four children were born: sons Kevin, Kent and Kim, and a daughter Shawana. This family was joined by Shirley’s daughters, Kay, Kathy and Sue Ellen.
Those surviving him are his sons Kevin of Rock Springs, WYand Kim and his wife Marsha of Elbert, CO; daughter Shawana and her husband, Tim Fagnant of Cheyenne, WY; three stepdaughters Kay and husband Hugh Lockhart, of Laramie, Kathy and husband Keith Hagen and Sue Ellen and husband Ken Burnett all of Cheyenne.; and a brother Dale and his wife Ramona of Benkelman, NE; 5 grandchildren, 1 great grandson and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Shirley.son Kent; and 2 sisters Helen and Sylvia and a brother Delmar.
