Jeffrey Orf Lee Henson

BAYARD — Jeffrey Lee “Orf” Henson, 55, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012.At his request, cremation has taken place. A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday, April 7, at 2 p.m. at the Bayard Cemetery.A memorial has been established to the Bayard Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department. Jeff was born in Miller, S.D. on Dec. 23, 1956 to Dean and Florence Henson. He graduated from Bayard High School in 1975. He spent most of his years employed as a heavy equipment operator and truck driver. Jeff started his traveling road show in Corvallis, Ore. working for a few years for a backhoe company and tree farm. He then spent 10 years in Glendive, Mont. hauling rigs in the oil fields. Jeff returned to the Bayard area in 1990 and worked driving heavy equipment and farming in the later years.Through these travels many friendships were formed. His worldly materials were modest, but his love and compassion for his family and friends were monumental. His love was given freely and because of that it was returned just as freely.Survivors include his father Dean; siblings, David and Kim Henson, Chuck Henson, Tom and Sheila Henson, Rick and Patty Valentine, Brad and Marie Henson and Ron and Diana Henson and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and a host of friends.Preceding Jeff in death was his mother, grandparents and a nephew.
