

Marvin Dwayne Stevens, 70, of Bridgeport, died Wednesday, November 22, 2006, at Heritage of Bridgeport. Cremation was held at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory in Scottsbluff. A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 25, 2006 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bridgeport with Pastor Martin T. Schnare officiating. Military honors by the Nebraska National Guard will follow the service. Inurnment will be in Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD Monday, November 27, 2006 at 11:30 a.m. Marvin was born December 19, 1935 in Sidney, NE to Albert E. and Anna M. (Frerichs) Stevens. He attended school at District 17 and Gurley High School. He entered the army January 5, 1956 and was honorably discharged October 10, 1957. He returned to Broadwater. He began his employment with the State of Nebraska Natural Resource District at Bridgeport. He later became a Hydrologic Technician with the U. S. Geological Survey-Water Resources for 31 years. He married Janice Joan Martin August 28, 1960 in St. Paul’s Church in Bridgeport. They lived in Casper, Lovell, Riverton and Cheyenne, WY, Rapid City, SD, Garden City, KS and Pierre, SD. They lived in Telford, SD before moving to Mesa, AZ. They moved to Bridgeport in October of 2005. Marvin officiated High School and College football games for 34 years. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bridgeport. He is survived by his wife: Janice; daughter Connie L. (Donald) Namanny, Grandson: Dustin D. (Lindsey) Namanny, and great granddaughter: Jaedyn M. Namanny all of Rapid City, SD; Mother Anna Stevens, Bridgeport, NE; brothers: Dale (Doloris) Stevens, Brady, NE, Norman (Deloris) Stevens, Sidney, NE, Dennis (Thelma) Stevens, Bridgeport, NE and David (Penny) Stevens of Scottsbluff, NE; sisters: Marlys (Percy) Hansen, Broadwater, NE, Sharon (Bryan) Kemplin, Oshkosh, NE and Susan (Kenneth) Wiegers of Stevensville, MT. He was preceded in death by his father in 1997 and brother Dean in 1962.
