Pearl Eileen (Buskirk) Steffensmeier, 85 of Darrington, WA went home to be with the Lord as she died peacefully at home on July 29, 2021.
Pearl was the youngest daughter of the ten children born to Carl Friend Buskirk and Augusta Sylvia (Opkis) Buskirk. She was born north of the town of Bayard Nebraska on April 12, 1936 and attended school at Bayard Nebraska. She graduated from Bayard High School in 1954. Following graduation, she worked at the historic Moomaw’s corner north of Bayard until the time that she met and married Jack Lee Steffensmeier on February 19, 1956. Together, they were the parents to six children. Calvin (deceased), Wendy, Candy, Chuck, Fred (deceased), and Tami.
Pearl was a loving and involved wife, mother and, grandmother who worked hard to instill values and faith in her children. She cared deeply for everyone that she met as this was evident in the way that she went out of her way to help others and was always there to lend a hand. She taught Sunday school, helped with Bible school, volunteered at Summer Bible camp and drove the school bus as she raised her children. As her children grew older, she became self-employed and traveled often for work but, often made these trips to ensure to stay in contact with children and grandchildren. For many years, she loved to drive long trips and load the kids in the car to travel from Nebraska to California to visit her sisters and brother from that area and their many children. She enjoyed this time with her children as they were packed in the car like sardines for this 24 hour plus drive.
Family was important to Pearl and she talked to everyone about her children and grandchildren. She loved everyone that she met and would take time to listen and talk with everyone. Her faith was a driving principle in her life and she shared this love with everyone. She was a member of the Mountain View Baptist Church at the time of her passing.
Pearl is preceded in death by her husband Jack, 9 siblings, and 2 sons, Calvin and Fred.
She is survived by her children: Wendy, Candy, Chuck and Tami as well as 15 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and many treasured friends. As we all grieve her loss, we are also at peace knowing that she is home with the Lord and her heavenly family.
