

Born on April Fool’s, married on Halloween, Alessandro Francesco Sicilia entered into Eternal life on Christmas Day at the age of 93. Born April 1, 1919 to Benedetto and Amelia Sicilia (nee Sessa) from Marano Marcessato, Cosenza, Italy. Loving husband of 67 years, to Catherine (nee Banks). Alex met Catherine Alice Banks, the love of his life, while serving in the US Army during WW II.
Alex was a US Army heavy artillery 1st Lieutenant serving in the Philippines, where he met Catherine, a US Army nurse. They married on October 31st, 1945 in Manila, known as the” Thrilla in Manila”. While serving in WW II, Alex was a Judo instructor and a singer. He had the pleasure to tour with Bob Hope, entertaining the troops in California and the Philippines. After the war, Alex returned to Wisconsin where he attended Marquette University from 1946 to 1950, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He went on to dedicate over 30 years as a Sales Executive for Pabst, Blatz and Heileman Brewing Companies. Alex also worked a second career as a singer/waiter at the Alpine Village in Mequon, WI. He dedicated almost 50 years to helping others achieve sobriety in the everyday struggles of life.
Alex is survived, and missed by his seven children; Margaret Sartor, Nancy (Bob Lee), Alex (Patty), Ann (Dick) Thompson, Anthony (Kathleen Shallow), Therese (Michael) Sheedy and Jane Orozco. Loving grandpa of Alex (Adrienne) and Andrew Small, Matthew (Lindsey), Emily, Anthony Jr., Gina (Dave) Drent, Amy (Noah) Bern, Andrea and Emily Shallow, Janine Sheedy, Robert Norton, Michael, Terese and Gino Sartor, and Samantha Orozco. Loving great grandpa of Logan, Carly and Cole Sicilia, Vinnie Scifo, London Fink, Ava Drent, Alexis Mueller and Olivia Bern. Also survived by other relatives and friends. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL 11:00 AM ON WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 2, 2012, AT ST JUDE THE APOSTLE CHURCH, 734 GLENVIEW AVE IN WAUWATOSA, WI 53213. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday at the church only from 9:30 AM until time of Mass.
