
Aaron Bloom, of Watertown, MA passed away on June 17th 2017. He was the devoted husband of the late Norma (Merson) Bloom and beloved son of the late Ida & Harry Bloom and brother of the late Melvin Bloom & his surviving wife Myrna Bloom.
Born in Malden, MA, Mr. Bloom received his Bachelor of Science in aeronautical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1961. After serving in the U.S. Army, he was the co-proprietor of Perkins Plumbing Supply for over 25 years. In the 1990s, he returned to school and earned a B.S. in electrical engineering from Northeastern University. He worked briefly as an engineer for the MITRE Corporation and pursued graduate studies in electrical engineering, also at Northeastern University.
A life-long learner, Mr. Bloom gave tours of Beacon Hill and Back Bay for Boston by Foot, he was a docent at the Peabody Museum, and volunteered at Mass General Hospital. He loved the Berkshires, classical music, and Judaic studies, among many other interests.
Good humored, kind and forever treasured he leaves behind to grieve his passing: nephew Gary Merson; nieces Martha Merson; Andrea Lawrence; Lisa Bloom; grand niece and nephew Eve and Isaac Frankel; cousins Barbara, Alan, Jessica, and Anna Berns; devoted friend and caregiver Bonnie Driks; and a raft of family members in the greater Boston area.
Graveside services will be held in Auburn, Maine on Monday, June 19th. A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 20th at 10:00am at Beth El Temple Center, 2 Concord Avenue, Belmont, MA.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
