Adrian was the beloved son of Marilyn Levine of Brookline and Ross McElwee of Cambridge and the brother of Mariah L. McElwee, also of Brookline.
His death follows a long and brave struggle with mental health issues that disrupted a truly promising life. At heart, Adrian was intensely creative, intelligent and curious, a young man most at peace amid high unspoiled mountain peaks; he spoke often and longingly of the deep calm and reverence for life that he experienced there.
A memorial service will be held at the Levine Chapels, 470 Harvard Street, Brookline on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at 2:00pm.
Anyone wishing to make a donation may do so to the Adrian McElwee Memorial Fund c/o Rockland Trust Bank, 264 Washington Street, Brookline, MA 02445. Currently in process of becoming a non-profit, this Fund will be used for advancing mental health advocacy and treatment.
