Alexander was born in Novaya Ushetsa, Ukraine on March 3, 1962, and lived there with parents Busya and Nyunya, grandmother Eva, and brother Boris before leaving to further his education in Russia. He was an accomplished athlete, a trained musician, and was loved by friends and family alike.
In 1986, he married Marina Filshtinsky, whom he met at Medical School in Ivanovo, Russia, and with whom he had a happy and loving 38 years of marriage. They share three beautiful children, Anya, Simon, and Liza. In 2001, the family relocated from Russia to Newton, MA, where he lived out the rest of his years.
Alexander recently welcomed four wonderful grandchildren: Antonina, Arielle, Noah, and Julian, who colored his life with so much love and laughter. In his later years, he operated the Russian-language medical news web service, Medmir.com.
Alexander was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son-in-law, brother, cousin, and friend. He enjoyed playing table tennis, competitive chess, music, and had a profound love for animals. His distinct passion and talent for making people laugh and smile will be dearly missed by all whose lives he touched. He is survived by his wife Marina, his three children, and his four grandchildren.
