Arnold proudly served in the U.S. Navy prior to attending medical school in Switzerland. He practiced as a family pediatrician for four decades in the greater New Haven community. More important to him was his family. Arnie was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather. He loved photography, bridge, tennis, and golf. But, most of all, he loved to share these activities with his grandchildren.
Arnold is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Edith Heiger, their daughter Wendy Heiger-Bernays and her husband Jonathan, their son David Heiger and his wife Jude, and their son Jason Heiger and his wife Andrea, and their 8 grandchildren: Daniel, Benjamin, Joshua, Jack, Samuel, Noah, Sarah, and Mairead. Arnold was the brother of the late Charles Heiger and his surviving wife Marilyn and their family.
