Born on September 30, 1933, Barbara was raised in the greater Boston area, where she developed the intelligence, style, and determination that would define her life.

Barbara was the devoted mother of Kathy Sidell and Stephanie Sidell, and a cherished grandmother of five and great-grandmother of nine. She also adored her three nieces, who held a special place in her heart. Her family was the center of her world, and she took immense pride in each generation.

She graduated from Wheaton College and later earned her law degree from Boston University at the age of 42, a testament to her ambition, perseverance, and lifelong commitment to learning.

Barbara was married to James V. Sidell, former president of U.S. Trust Company, where she also served on the board. Though they later divorced, they shared years of partnership and family.

In her early years, Barbara was deeply involved in fundraising efforts for Brookline Hospital and built a career as an interior designer, bringing her natural elegance and eye for beauty into every space she touched.

Barbara had a deep love of travel and encouraged those around her to explore the world and look beyond their own lives. For many years, she treasured her apartment in New York City, where she embraced her love of theater and the arts.

In later years, she made her home in Palm Beach, where she enjoyed an active social life and a wide circle of friends. Barbara was known for her philanthropy, her love of tennis, and her vibrant community presence.

Barbara will be remembered as a woman of grace, intelligence, style, elegance, impact, and was deeply admired. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and a true role model whose influence will be felt for generations.
