

Bert (Bertram) Libon of Newton Centre, and Falmouth, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 25th at the age of 95 at his home with his family by his side. Son of Jacob and Pearl, beloved husband and friend of Goldie (Birstein) wife of 69 years.
He was born on October 1, 1922. He was raised in Boston and attended Boston Public Schools. He attended Mass State College. After his junior year he enlisted in the Air Force and became a pilot and flight instructor. Upon finishing his military duty, he completed his schooling and graduated with the first class of the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. He was a pioneer in importing foreign cars to Boston working at Foreign Motors. He founded Libon Motors in 1964 and expanded the business to Libon Porsche/Audi/Honda. He was on the Board of Big Sister’s Association, the Board of Bay Bank, and the Arbitration Board of MSADA.
He loved golf, tennis, travel and time spent with his family. He loved magic and a good laugh.
He will be lovingly remembered by his sons Robert (Rob) and Mark and their wives, Kristina and Joanne. Grandchildren Rachel and Courtney and their spouses Lantz and David, Gregory and Ali and her husband, Ryan. Great-grandchildren Omer and Shae Luz. He leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sisters Minna and Bernice.
His family wishes to thank the incredible care givers who provided such compassion and support that made his final days happy and comfortable; Siobhan O’Donnell and the other extraordinary women who provided such exceptional care.
Funeral services will be held at Levine Chapels, 470 Harvard Street, Brookline on Wednesday, February 28 at 12 Noon. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon. Following the interment, the family will be gathering at Goldie and Bert’s home until 7pm. continuing on Thursday, March 1, from 2pm–4pm and 6pm–8pm.
