Betty Phyllis Gottlieb grew up living along the Bronx's Grand Concourse, the second of three girls in a home environment filled with family love, and music.
She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from New York University, as well as Masters degrees in Education (Northeastern University), and Social Work (Simmons College), which she earned in May, 1974. Betty was a social worker in Massachusetts, continuing this work in south Florida after she moved to Boca Raton in 1978. The 1990s saw her adding a realtors license to her resume, and she enjoyed that professional challenge into the 21st Century.
Along with her late husband, Dr. Lawrence Pious, Betty was a founding member and benefactor of Temple Emunah in Lexington, Mass. A lifelong lover of the theater, her favorite hobby was playing bridge. Betty always had a special place in her heart for family and friends. Her sisters and two younger brothers having predeceased her, Betty was a truly beloved aunt and cousin.
She is survived by her four children and five grandsons along with their spouses: Victoria Tane, Tim Desclos, Zachary Brandon, and James, Lezli, Daniel, Jamie, Jordan, Charlie, Stephanie, Harrison, Jonathan, Lawrence, and Kerry Pious, as well as three great grandchildren: Ruby, Connor, and Maddie.
