

Born in Boston and raised in Winthrop, he attended the Winthrop public schools until high school where he attended and graduated from Buckingham Browne and Nichols. He went on to attend UMass Amherst and then The Mass College of Pharmacy where he earned his Doctor of Pharmacy Degree and Became a Registered Pharmacist. In his later years he enrolled at UMass Boston and earned his master’s degree in research. He worked in testing soil and ocean samples at the Nahant Oceanic Research Center and did testing at Carson Beach in South Boston. He and his colleagues eventually wrote a thesis paper on their findings that became published.
At a very young age Bruce was not only academically intelligent but was extremely athletically inclined. He became proficient in gymnastics on the still rings, vault, pommel horse and uneven bars. His grandfather would take he and his brothers to the wrestling gym where Bruce would practice his gymnastics. While attending Buckingham Browne and Nichols he was the coxswain for the rowing team. He also loved to water ski, but downhill skiing was his true passion. He became an avid and very skilled skier. He loved traveling with his ski club all over the world. He skied in the French and Italian Alps, Switzerland, Colorado, Lake Tahoe and of course here in New England. He was also a lifetime member of the Winthrop Yacht Club.
Bruce also worked for the city of Boston’s outreach program. Helping the homeless, and individuals battling substance abuse and mental health issues. He also worked in halfway houses, as a counselor.
He is survived by his siblings Marc Kline, Charles Kline and his partner Nancy McCarrick, Marcia Kline, Bert Kline Jr., Susan Altman and her husband Richard, his nieces and nephews, Rosalyn Kline, Nathaniel Altman, Allie Altman, Hannah Altman, and Bertie Kline, cousin Maurine Murphy and his Aunt Claire Goldstein (his late mom’s twin sister).
A memorial service to honor Bruce’s life will be held at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel 1668 Beacon Street, Brookline MA at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 13, 2026. Interment to follow at Birsen Cemetery in Everett, MA. In lieu of flowers donations in Bruce’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
