David S. Kampler, 97, of Brookline, a Holocaust survivor passed away on Friday, July 20, 2018. David is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Esther (Rottenberg) Kampler; his children, Steven and his wife Stephanie of Connecticut, Debra and her husband Gerry Bickoff of Newton, and Jerry and his wife Holly of Newton; and 6 grandchildren, Benjamin (Jeff), Zachary (Christina), Alyssa (Dan), Jacob (Danielle), Sam, and Max.
He was born in Frankfurt, Germany, one of ten children born to Samuel Wolf and Golda (Igra) Kampler. Only he and 5 siblings survived the Holocaust. He had the type of strength that most people will never know. He took his two youngest siblings to board the kinder transport so that his mother wouldn’t have to know the pain. During the war he was interned in a concentration camp in Italy.
He immigrated to America where he met and married the love of his life, Esther, and together they built their family. He went into business for himself in 1955 and used his success to invest in Real Estate. He retired in his late 50’s and enjoyed his retirement for over 40 years.
Services at the Levine Chapels, 470 Harvard St., Brookline on Sunday, July 22 at 12:30pm. Burial in the Shara Tfilo Cemetery 776 Baker St., West Roxbury.
