Deborah Shaw

Deborah Shaw, 88, of Delray Beach, Florida, passed away on July 2, 2025, surrounded by loved ones at her new home in Ashland, MA. She is survived by her husband Alan, daughter and son-in-law Dianne and Paul Durkee, daughter Andrea Shaw and her grandchildren Emma, Ben, Jessica, Jason and Alex.

Debbie was born on February 22, 1937 to Faye and Morris Platt in Brooklyn, NY. After graduating from high school, she went on to study Nursing at Brooklyn Jewish Hospital. She started out as a nurse for an industrial manufacturer. Later to her daughter’s dismay, Debbie became a school nurse in their local school district. Her later years were spent caring for the elderly in various nursing homes.

She met her forever partner Alan in Florida on vacation with friends. They married in 1959 and spent 66 years having fun and caring for each other.

In 2000, Debbie and Alan did what all NY Jews do and retired to Florida. Debbie enjoyed travelling, playing Mah Jong and canasta, and watching any and all mystery shows and movies. She was well known for her numerous Diamond Artwork throughout the house as well as her love for butterflies and gardenias.

Funeral services will be held at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel 1668 Beacon Street, Brookline, MA at 2:00 pm July 17, 2025.
