

Elaine (Sokol) Reisman died on April 19, 2025, of natural causes at age 96-1/2. She was born in Shaker Heights, Ohio, and was married for 60 years to Bernard Reisman. She is survived by loving family members, including children (Joel, Sharon, Eric, Robin), their spouses (Debby, Steve, Sheryl, Rich), 8 grandchildren with 3 spouses, and 5 great-grandchildren.
Elaine attended Antioch College, studied Child Development at the Merrill-Palmer Institute in Cleveland, and received a Masters in Education from Wheelock College. After a career as a pre-school teacher and director, she was a professor at the Threshold Program at Lesley University training adults with learning disabilities.
Elaine was a superb challah baker, made quilts for each of her children and grandchildren, and swam every day until the end. An avid thespian, she directed two dozen plays at her senior living residence, Brookhaven in Lexington. She modeled charitable behavior to her family by making donations in their honor to causes about which she cared most.
A funeral service will be held at Temple Emanuel in Newton on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 12pm. Burial at Beth Israel Memorial Park in Waltham.
Donations can be made to Planned Parenthood, the Innocence Project, or any environmental causes.
