

KRENTZMAN, Farla H. (Blumer) of Chestnut Hill, Age 85. Entered into rest on July 5, 2015 at her home. She was the loving wife of the late Harvey “Chet” Krentzman, mother to Mark A. Krentzman and his wife Caroline, of New York and Washington, CT, and to Scott D. Krentzman and his wife Amy of Newton, MA. Devoted “Grammy” to Amanda, Hilary, Robert, Jack, and Samuel, Jennifer, Joshua Krentzman, and to Samuel Gloss. Born in Montreal, Farla was the oldest child of the late Tess and Charlie Blumer and sister to Diane (Blumer) Jackson and the late Ronald Blumer. She was raised in Montreal and graduated from McGill University. On Thanksgiving Day, 1952, Farla married “Chet” and settled in Chestnut Hill, MA where they would remain for the rest of their lives. She never forgot her Canadian roots and often visited with her many Canadian cousins. She and “Chet” were great supporters of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Beth Israel Hospital, Northeastern University, and other Massachusetts institutions but she also cherished her own work at the Boston Ballet, the Hebrew Home for the Aged, and the Silent Spring Institute. Farla loved to read, to play piano and listen to classical music, to play Maj Jong with her girlfriends, to enjoy her Sunday night Chinese dinners with friends, but mostly to spend time with her extended Krentzman and Blumer family. Services will be held at Congregation Mishkan Tefila, 300 Hammond Pond Pkwy, Chestnut Hill on Tuesday, July 7, at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Chevra Kadisha of Chelsea Cemetery in Everett. Following interment, family invites friends to her late residence and on Wednesday & Thursday from 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm. Shiva minyanim will take place there Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday evenings at 7:30 p.m. Shiva concludes at the home of Scott and Amy Krentzman on Friday from 2-5 pm only and Sunday 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm. There will be a concluding shiva minyan service at Scott and Amy's home on Sunday beginning at 7:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Silent Spring Institute, 29 Crafts Street, Newton, MA 02458, www.silentspring.org.
