
Dr. Frederick L. Meisel, of Brookline, MA died peacefully on January 14th, 2023. Born in New York City to Joseph & Sally Meisel, he graduated from Princeton University with a Bachelor's degree in English and earned a M.D. from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed his residency in Adult, Adolescent and Child Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts Mental Health Center, studying under Dr. Elvin Semrad and serving as Chief Resident. He taught in the Psychiatry Departments of Boston's Children's Hospital, Beth Israel Hospital, Brigham and Women's Hospital, and Harvard Medical School. He was a revered teacher, supervisor, and mentor at the Boston Psychoanalytic Institute, where he was a Child and Adolescent Supervising Analyst and served as co-chair of the child program. He also maintained a private practice for over 50 years. He was admired and deeply loved for his generosity and abiding wisdom.
Fred is survived by the love of his life, his wife Lili, his children Zachary, Joshua, and Deborah, daughters-in-law Courtney and Jenna, and beloved grandchildren Alexander, Dalia, Asa, and Ira. Dear brother to Martin and loving Uncle Fred to many.
Funeral services will be held at Stanetsky Memorial Chapels, 475 Washington St., Canton, on Thursday, January 19th at 1:00pm.
Burial will be private.
