

Gladys (Manaster) Polansky, of Newton passed the 19th of November 2011. She was 99 years old, born February 10, 1912, Boston, MA. She led a full and productive life as an accomplished classical pianist, as a social worker with the WPA working for placement of unemployed people for jobs in the depression and later moving into teaching as an instructor of English Literature at Northeastern until she retired at 85, having been a successful and sought after instructor for over 27 years. She also ran Brandeis literary study groups for many years. Survived by her loving family: Husband Israel of 72 years, a successful manufacturer and President of the Atlantic Paper Box Co., who himself retired at the age of 87. Two sons; Arthur of Needham, Robert and his wife Ann of Manhattan; grandchildren, Mark of Manhattan, Barbra and her husband Steve of CA, Jerome and his wife Flor of Manhattan and two great grandchildren. Her brother, Dr. Paul Ephross and his wife Joan of Rockville, MD and her late sister Julia Cole. Services at Levine Chapels, 470 Harvard St., Brookline on Tuesday, November 22 at 1 PM. Burial to follow at Sharon Memorial Park, Sharon. Memorial observance will be at her late residence following burial through Tuesday evening. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be donated to the charity of ones choice.
