Harvey R. Katz, of Needham and formerly of Wellington, FL on March 28, 2022. For over 70 years, beloved and cherished husband of the late Phyllis Katz. Loving father of Wendy Grabler & her husband Peter, Gary Katz & his wife Linda and Jeffrey Katz & his wife Laura. Adored and proud grandfather of Matthew Grabler & his wife Jessica, Allison Stein & her husband Andrew, Jennifer Golden & her husband Harry, Alyssa Bloch & her husband Todd, Joshua Katz & his wife Ashley, Andrew Katz & his girlfriend Julie Webb and Jessica Kaufman & her husband Matthew. Revered great grandfather of Jacob and Mia Grabler, Nate, Maya and Sadie Stein, Zoe and Sam Golden, Ellie and Sara Bloch, Leta and Ari Katz and Chloe Kaufman.

Harvey opened Harvey’s Hardware in 1953 at the age of twenty, and it soon became a Needham institution. Up until a couple of years ago, Harvey could be found behind the cash register every day, greeting his customers with a big smile. He remained a key contributor in the store’s day-to-day business activities long after “retirement,” and he considered all of his employees an extension of his family.

Harvey was a generous, cheerful, kind, smart, loving and caring man. He always showed a genuine interest in those he came in contact with, never failing to ask what they are up to and how their families are doing. Harvey had a loving relationship with all of his grandkids and great grandkids and spent lots of time with them on the Facebook portal. Not a day went by without a call from Papa. He never missed an episode of Jeopardy or 60 Minutes, and he truly embraced life to its fullest. He is now at peace resting beside his beloved wife, Phyllis.

Harvey’s family wants to express their deep appreciation and gratitude to all his caregivers who made his last few years so peaceful.
