

Robinson, Herbert, 87, of Needham, MA, died April 13, 2013 in Florida. Beloved husband of Elsie (Zelman) Robinson for 56 years. Devoted father of Steven (Betsy) Robinson, Deborah Robinson (Ian) and Heidi (Jeffrey) Sedovsky. Dear grandfather of Sam. Friend of Heidi and Jeffrey's Chihuahua "Peanut." Brother of the late Saul Robinson and Saul's late wife Lillian.
Herbert was a graduate of Boston Latin School and Harvard College. During World War II, he served in the United States Navy and saw action in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. For many years, until his retirement, he was in his family's wholesale Dry Goods business.
After moving to Needham in 1960, he was a founder of Temple Aliyah and, for fourteen years, was a Town Meeting Member of Needham. Since his retirement, he and his wife spent their winters in Highland Beach, Florida.
He was a member of the Alumni Associations of Boston Latin School and of Harvard College, The Jewish War Veterans (Chapter 211), The U.S. Navy LSM-LSMR Association, and the FAU Lifelong Learning Society.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, April 18 at 12:00 noon at Stanetsky Chapel, 1668 Beacon St., BROOKLINE followed by burial at Sharon Memorial Park. Following the burial, the family will be at his late residence until 8:00 P.M. Shiva will continue on Friday from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. and will resume after Shabbat on Saturday evening from 7:30 P.M. until 9:30 P.M. and on Sunday from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M until 8:00 P.M.
