Nolan’s childhood memories I think will be:
Pops jumping rope, using his stairs for a stairmaster, stretching and wondering when Pops would zipline across the house.  Walking with Pops and Charlie on Woodcleft avenue and all of us climbing on the boat together.  When we came last year to take care of Charlie while Pops was at the rehab, we asked Pops how to keep Charlie from jumping on our bed.  Pops said to just say “Get awf of there!” We tried it  with his accent and it worked!  The other day when we ordered pizza Nolan said this isn’t like the one Pops got.  Pizza has to be floppy like we got with Pops.
 

For my memories -- it comes out like a slideshow-- which ironically is actually one of my memories.  Dad would show us home movies and slides of places and family we visited.   We loved the Florida trips, and California! When Marjorie and Jamie came here, my Uncle Ray and Dad would always take us to nostalgic places. They took us on a tour of the Bronx where they grew up.  We could not stop laughing as the dad’s showed us the movie theatre “The Rat'' as they called it.  My dad loved taking things apart and trying to put them back together! He used to tell us grandma got really mad about that when he was still learning the put back together part.  I loved building a wooden trunk and dollhouse with him. Two of my greatest memories.
 
 Didn’t love so much all the spelling mistakes he always felt the need to point out, but later on when both his and my phones did self corrects-- it made us laugh! My dad had a great sense of humor even on his toughest days.  When he wasn’t feeling well and I had to go to CVS to get his medicine I asked him if there was anything I could pick up from there he said, “yeah a new body.”  If you call my dad’s cell phone I’m sure many of you heard his voice say, “you can leave me a  message unless you are selling something or want money.”  This was my dad.  Right to the point but also so caring.  He’d text me if I was sick to see how I was, always buy or cook dinner when I’d visit, sent funny ecards and gifts every birthday and holiday.  He’d pick me up from anywhere I needed, even from the long Island railroad at 2am. He always made me feel safe.
 
There are so many ways he helped other people too- not just me.  Both he and my mom were instrumental in starting the homefinders association--  to help integrate the Freeport community and help minorities to be treated fairly when looking for a home.  He was a teacher and made such a difference in his student’s lives to the point where he received letters,  even recently,  from former students than

Jack was, to us,  a quiet gentle-man with a dry sense of humor and a sense of what was right in the world and what was not.

Traveling from the UK, and later Florida, we would meet Jack and Andy in lower Manhattan and walk around together, stopping to have a real NY Deli meal.  Ellen was working!

One time, this coincided with Fleet Week, and we toured the Admiral's aircraft carrier.  Reaching the bridge, Eileen noticed two tall seats set back, and she asked "Who sits in the High Chair"  The officer, amused, said "The Admiral".  Within moments, the term 'The Admirals High Chair' was circulating around the Fleet!  It was the first time we saw Jack laugh deeply out loud!

I knew the Extract family through the synagogue.  Jack and Ellen were one of the nicest and friendliest couples there. They could be counted on to help wherever and whenever needed.  They are both very sincerely missed.


I knew Jack (Ellen and Andy) for an eternity.  A wonderful family. Jack will be missed.

I worked with Jack on the finances of the temple. He was a hard worker a devoted member and a good friend, We shared social times as well with him and with Ellen. I will always remember Jack as a friend and a person I loved, respected and will miss. He was a part of the good memories I share of Bnai Israel and of  being a friend and a co-worker.
He will be missed.

🤖December 1956 Ellen and I went to a dance at the YMha.  Ellen met Jack.  The rest is history.  The extracts and gellers have been family ever since. So many good times. So much love.

Jack and Ellen provided a home away from home for me with love, comfort and warmth.  Jack had a wonderful and bold smile that will be embedded in my memories of him forever.
