

Joseph Slotnik Michelson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and community leader, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 7, 2026, in Decatur, Georgia, at the age of 92.
Born on April 9, 1934, Joseph was the son of George and Bella (Slotnik) Michelson. He shared 64 devoted years of marriage with his beloved wife, Sonia (Berlin) Michelson, building a life grounded in family, generosity, and service to others.
Joseph is survived by his wife Sonia; his children Miriam, Peter, and David Michelson; his daughter-in-law Toby Michelson; and his cherished grandchildren Audrey, Aidan, Jeremiah, Cameron, and Sarah. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Isabel, whose memory remained close to his heart.
Joseph was the longtime President of the J. Slotnik Company in Newton, Massachusetts, a commercial general contracting firm, where he earned the respect of colleagues and the community through his integrity, leadership, and dedication. Deeply committed to Jewish education and communal life, he also served as President of Hebrew College and gave generously of his time and leadership to numerous philanthropic organizations throughout the greater Boston area.
Above all, Joseph will be remembered for his kindness, wisdom, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to his family and community. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched with compassion and generosity.
Funeral services will be held at Levine Chapel at 470 Harvard St. Brookline, Massachusetts, on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park at 40 Dedham St. Sharon, Massachusetts. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America (AFA) at alzfdn.org/donate/ .
Shiva will be held on Sunday and Monday with the family in Dedham, MA.
