

Joseph Harold Porter,75, lawyer and educator, of Norwood, formerly of Newton on Wednesday, January 8, 2014. Born in Cambridge, MA on July 21, 1938. Son of the late Morris George and Sylvia (Richmond) Porter. Beloved husband of the late Carol (Wallins), whom he married June 23, 1960, she died November 18, 1985. He later met and married Natalie (Waldman) on February 18, 1990 who died January 21, 2013. Mr. Porter graduated from Boston Latin Class of 1956, he then attended Tufts University where he received his BA in 1960. In 1963 he received his JD from Boston College, and took his Bar for MA. U.S. District Court in 1965, U.S. Supreme Court in 1992. Mr. Porters career started as an attorney; title examiner with Donald A. Carvin in Boston 1963, Guterman, Horvitz & Rubin, Boston from 1963 until 1965, purchasing agent for American Science and Engineering in Cambridge 1965. Mr. Porter became an associate with Karoff and Goldberg in Boston from 1965 until 1967, Wasserman and Salter in Boston from 1967 until 1969, Kafka and Kaufman, P.C. in Sharon from 1969-2008. He also was a real estate lecturer with Lee Institute in Brookline from 1965 until 1992. Mr. Porter was a member and past president (2008) of the MA Shomrim Society, Society in Dedham for Apprehending Horse Thieves. He is survived by his two sons; Andrew Porter and his wife Amy of Holliston and Russell Porter of Mission Hill. Two grandsons; Alexander and Zachary. He was preceded in death by his brother Jay Porter. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Stanetsky Memorial Chapels, 475 Washington St., Canton on Sunday, Janaury 12 at 12PM. Burial will follow at Sharon Memorial Park, 41 Dedham St., Sharon. Memorial observance will be at the home of Andrew and Amy Porter immediately following burial until 8PM, continuing on Monday from 2-4PM and 6-9PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Boston Latin School Association, 27 School St., Suite 300, Boston, MA 02108.
