Avis de décès de Judith Cynthia (Slesinger) Wein
AUX SOINS DE

Levine Chapels

...

Judith Cynthia (Slesinger)Wein, of Lexington, MA and Ogunquit, ME was born in Brookline, MA on September 29, 1924 and passed away peacefully at home on February 1, 2025 in her 101st year.

Judy was married to her beloved husband, the late Henry A. Wein, for 76 years. She was the older sister to the late Selma “Bunny” Fuchs and the late Jason Slesinger.

Judy leaves behind 3 generations of the most loving family: children, the late Jay Wein & his surviving wife, Linda of Brookline, Robert Wein & his wife Mary Ellen of Winthrop, and Cheryl Barg & her husband Henry of Lexington; grandchildren, Abbe Galvez Cordon & husband Carlos of Lexington, Mollie Drury & husband Seth of Stoneham, Sandy Parker & husband Dave of Hanson, Stefie Wein & husband Scott Engdahl of Vancouver, Canada, Steven Wein & wife Kristin of Winthrop, Jeremy Wein & wife Kerri of Winthrop, and Hilary Borgatti & husband Eddie of Winthrop; great grandchildren, Ryan & Joan Wein, Donovan & Zackary Wein, Anthony, Olivia & Ezra Borgatti, Ben Parker, Sadie Engdahl, and Ffion & Lluisa Galvez Cordon. Also Judy was a most loving aunt and cousin to many in her large, close family.

Grammy Judy’s family celebrated her and honored her at her 100th birthday celebration at her home, a joyful milestone everyone will keep in their hearts. For Grammy Judy, loving her family was the single most important part of her life – she loved with all her heart, unconditionally, and with an unmatched focus on the individual needs and wants of every single member. She will be missed so much.

Judy was so well known in her community in Lexington as she worked in retail sales for decades, first at Filene’s in the Burlington Mall as a star shoe saleswoman, next at Ingall’s Stationary in Lexington, and then at Theatre Pharmacy also in Lexington, everyone recognizing her from Filene’s and comforted by her warm, friendly attention at the front register. She spent summers in her favorite town of Ogunquit, Maine where she welcomed her family to vacation and worked at Animal Instinct, a local and loved toy shop. Her dearest friend and owner of the shop, Jon, repeatedly told her “Judy, you can’t leave until you’re 100!” She worked as a top salesperson there into her 90s!

Judy was not only well known for her excellent retail skills and her warm, engaging manner in sales, but in the early 1960s as a strong woman of her day. She raised her family of three children, and worked in the computer industry in the punch card era at Boston University when computers were the size of large rooms. She has always been a role model Mom and wife, caring for her family and pet dog, Kelly, with equal strength, energy and passion that defined her for nearly a century of being a working mom.

Judy’s interests included knitting fabulous sweaters for generations of family members, playing bridge into her 90s, supplying everyone at home, work and the bridge table with outstanding blueberry muffins, her signature chocolate chip cookies, and at holidays, a 5-star brisket and kugel. Judy loved reading the Boston Globe, keeping all around her up to date with important news and reminding them to be fierce advocates for equal and fair treatment for all, as she was herself. Storytelling was also a favorite as she remembered decades worth of details often about Boston, Brookline and her ancestors and kept her listeners hooked!

The whole family would like to say a heartfelt thank you and express their deepest gratitude to her incredible caregivers, Sheldon, Bridget and Joseph, for their loving and excellent care and helping her to live at home.

Judy will be missed by all who knew her and loved her – she was a petite woman with the biggest heart and the brightest spirit that will forever shine.
