June Marie (Feinberg) Stayman, age 98, of West Newton, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2025 at home.
June was born July 1,1926 in Boston and grew up in Newton, the daughter of Harry & Anna (Epstein) Feinberg. Her brother was Norman Feinberg.
June graduated from Dana Hall School in 1944, Wellesley College in 1948. She married the late mid-century designer and giftware manufacturer Bennett H. Stayman in 1949, and they settled in West Newton, where she remained a lifelong resident. Together, they designed and built a beautiful vacation home along the St. Lucie River in Florida, which they enjoyed together for many years.
A volunteer for Wellesley College and Newton Wellesley Hospital, she was also a long-time member of The Ten Aiders organization, raising funds for Boston Children’s Hospital. For many years, June ran Fieldstone Antiques, selling to the interior decorating trade and traveling often to England.
She filled home and garden with flowers and especially loved Sweet Peas, as they reminded her of childhood summers spent in Blue Hill, Maine.
With a remarkable talent for friendship, June enjoyed her close friends, many since childhood. She cherished her relationship with her sister-in-law Carol Feinberg Cohen and Carol & Norman’s children Joan Feinberg Berns, Amy Galen, Mark & Janet Feinberg, and their families.
June leaves behind her devoted daughter Susan Hope Stayman, grandchildren Julian Stayman and Samuel (Shannon) Stayman, and great granddaughters Cameron Stayman and Taylor Stayman. She was the mother of the late John W. Stayman, who died in 2017.
A private graveside service was held.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in June’s name may be made to June Feinberg Stayman ’48 Art Fund at Wellesley College.
