...

Laurence “Larry” Allen Weil, age 73, of Cambridge, MA, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026 surrounded by his wife and sons.

In addition to his devotion to family and friends, Larry was known for his kindness, his sharp intellect and his dry sense of humor.

He was born in the Bronx, New York in 1952 and spent most of his childhood in Richmond, VA. A lifelong learner and educator, he received his BA in Journalism from University of Georgia, his MA in Urban Studies from University of Maryland, and his PhD in Political Science from Cornell University. He taught at Kalamazoo College and Simmons College before spending most of his career teaching American Politics at Rhode Island College until he retired in 2019.

Larry was the son of the late Howard and Marissa (Abramson) Weil and was also preceded in death by his brother, Andy. He was the proud father of Jacob and Sam Brill-Weil whom he leaves behind along with his wife of 37 years, Jennifer Brill. He is also survived by his brother Kenny (Joan).

Graveside services will be held private with a memorial gathering taking place at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation at www.parkinson.org/donate or to the pro-democracy cause of your choice.
