Marjorie (Midge) Effenson, 94, of Chestnut Hill, formerly of Waban, passed away at home on February 26, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on January 28, 1932, in Boston to Max and Helen (Comman) Drukman. She leaves daughters Andrea Pyenson (and Eric), Max Chuck (and Bill); grandsons Craig Durham (and Laura Mathieu) and Luke Pyenson (and Lauren Martin); grandchild Jen Chuck (and Hannah Levy), granddaughter Elizabeth Chuck (and Lucien Noel); sisters-in-law Muriel Freedman and Bobbie Drukman; two great-grandchildren, and several devoted nieces and nephews. Midge was pre-deceased by her beloved husband, Jack, brother Michael Drukman and brother-in-law Robert Effenson.
Midge grew up in Brookline and was a loving presence in the lives of everyone who knew her, above all her husband, children, grandchildren and friends. She was a passionate traveler, visiting nearly every continent. She was a lifelong supporter of the Boston Symphony and Ballet and diehard Red Sox fan. From the small kitchen in her beloved Waban home, she produced feasts for family and friends, often experimenting with dishes she first encountered in her travels. In her middle years, Midge began a successful career in real estate that lasted for more than two decades and through which she made lifelong friends.
Midge’s family would like to express their deepest gratitude to her devoted caregivers, Tina and Rodah, and to the wonderful staff at Good Shepherd Community Care.
Funeral services will be held at the Sharon Memorial Park Chapel, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon, on Monday, March 2nd, at 10:00 am followed by the burial. Gathering will follow at the home of Andrea and Eric until 4:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in memory of Midge to Brigham and Women’s Hospital Neurology Alzheimer’s Center at www.brighamandwomens.org/neurology/alzheimer-center .
