Marlene (Diamond) Marcus of Dedham, MA, formerly of West Palm Beach, Florida entered into rest peacefully on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at the age of 87.
Born in Hudson, NY on August 18, 1938, Marlene was a daughter of the late Solomon and Anne (Cohen) Diamond.
Marlene, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and strength. For 35 years she was the cherished wife of the late Allen J. Marcus, until his passing in 1995.
Marlene was the devoted mother of Scott Marcus and his wife Beth, Sharon (Marcus) McGuire and her husband Jim, and Michael Marcus and his wife Sky Weiler. She was the adored grandmother of Rachel Marcus, Allison Marcus, Sam McGuire, Marcus McGuire and his wife Raisa Karim. She was predeceased by her sister, Gloria Singer.
A graduate of Syracuse University with a degree in Biology, Marlene chose family over career, marrying Allen shortly after graduation. Together, they built a loving home, raising their three children first in upstate New York and later in South Florida. While she initially put her professional aspirations aside, Marlene worked part-time as a school crossing guard and later as a cashier at Publix—always bringing warmth and kindness to those around her.
Above all, Marlene's greatest joy was her family. She was a constant and caring presence in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She played an especially active role in helping to raise her grandsons, always willing to step in with love and support, and cherished every visit with her Boston-based granddaughters.
Marlene will be remembered for her generosity of spirit, tenacity, and deep devotion to those she loved. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.
Marlene did not suffer fools gladly; demonstrated through her anger at several recent administrations. But she also loved with all her heart. Wherever she went, she made and kept good friends, including Anne Gumula, who she had known for almost fifty years.
