Melvin Klayman

Melvin I. Klayman, M.D., age 96 of Chestnut Hill and Palm Beach, FL passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018. For 67 years the beloved husband of T.Pat(Kramer). Devoted father of Stephen Klayman, Dianne Klayman (Cheryl Guiod) and Joanie Klayman (Rob Ellis) and grandchildren Jonathan and Rebecca. Dear brother of the late Max Klayman and Sadye Sief. Dr. Mel was born in Haverhill, graduated from the University of Michigan and served 3 years in the Navy, Pacific Theater. He graduated from Tufts Medical School in 1950. He trained at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center for 3 years and a two year fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of Chicago before returning to Boston. He spent 45 years on the staff of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School. In later years his love of learning continued at Harvard Institute of Learning and Retirement. He also enjoyed traveling, music and art. A funeral service will be held at Levine Chapels, 470 Harvard St., Brookline on Friday, January 19 at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham St., Sharon. Family and friends will be welcome at the Function room at Hampton Place, 77-79 Florence Street, Chestnut Hill on Friday 2-5pm and 7-9pm.
