Dr. Norman Lichtenstein passed away quietly on June 18, 2024. Dr. Lichtenstein was born on June 30, 1935 in the Bronx and raised in Queens, NY by Bessie and Benjamin Lichtenstein who were immigrants from Poland. Norman’s parents, sister Anita and brother-in-law Bernie Sklar predeceased him.
After graduating from Queens College, Dr. Lichtenstein attended Cornell Medical College, completed a residency at Yale and a Nephrology fellowship at MGH. He practiced Nephrology at MGH and was a clinical instructor at Harvard Medical School. He was loved and respected by his students and his fellows for his teaching expertise.
Norman and his wife, Marla Kahn, traveled widely and shared a love of France, opera, art and architecture. Norman was a lifelong learner with a passion for history, particularly military history.
A graveside service will take place on Friday, June 21, 2024 at 10:00AM at Or Emet Cemetery, 776 Baker Street, West Roxbury.
Norman is survived by his wife, Marla Kahn, his nieces and nephews and their children, Diane and Craig, Steve and Sylvie, Darci, Benjamin and David.
Following the funeral there will be a gathering at Norman and Marla’s home.
Norman will be dearly missed by his wife, nieces, nephews, dear friends and colleagues.
