Avis de décès de Richard "Dick" Morrison

Levine Chapels

Richard (Dick) Morrison, of Needham, died peacefully surrounded by family at the age of 98 on April 29th after a brief illness. Formally of Brookline, Chestnut Hill, Newtonville and Marstons Mills on Cape Cod, he was the son of the late Meyer & Ida Morrison, and brother to the late Sherman Morrison. He is survived by his beloved wife of 74 years Shirley Lederman Morrison whom he met while both families vacationed in Poland Springs ME in 1947. Leaves behind 2 sons; Michael Morrison and his wife Carla of Lexington MA and Robert Morrison and his wife Wendy of Northborough, MA and five grandchildren; Sarah Phair, Samantha Ugol, Dr Alexandra Morrison, Gregory Morrison, Evan Morrison and six great grandchildren. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews.

Dick was a proud Harvard graduate in the class of 1945, often going back to celebrate graduation and reunions with his class. He was a first lieutenant in the army and active in Europe during World War II. He loved to regale the family with stories of his service and experiences during the Battle of the Bulge.

Dick enjoyed a 70-year career in the appliance industry. Originally co-owning Morrison Stove Company in Boston, then Morrison Appliance in Coolidge Corner, followed by a 50-year career as a Sales Manager and independent Sales Representative working well into his 90’s. Even later in life he was one of the top selling representatives nationwide and an expert in the field.

Most of all he was proud of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He loved playing with them at the beach, going on Uncle Dicky rides, and just spending quality time together. He will be remembered for making newspaper trees, always having a joke or story to tell and being a loyal supporter of the Boston Red Sox.
