Robert Forman

Robert “Bob” Forman, 83, formerly of Mattapan, Revere & Haverhill, Devoted son of the late Harry & Pauline Forman, beloved husband of the late Helen Forman, father of Dennis & Fred Forman, grandfather of Michael Forman, Marissa O'Leary & Cory Clarke, father-in-law of Josephine Forman & Jerilyn A. Clarke Forman, passed peacefully in retirement in Florida on Thursday, December 26, 2013. Born in the Bronx and having grown up in Mattapan, Bob was a star baseball player at English High School and a member of the Air National Guard during the Korean War. After attending Suffolk University, he helped his father at his Roxbury business, "Roxy Junk". He was a pioneer in retail, having been one of the first to offer eyeglasses for sale at department stores. Bob spent most of his career living in Revere and working in the wholesale optical business. For many years he owned and ran Joseph Fredericks Optical in Haverhill. He counted his hundreds of long term customers among his most cherished friends.

A funeral service will be held on at Levine Chapels, 470 Harvard Street, Brookline, (617-277-8300), on Sunday December 29 at 11:00 a.m. Friends are welcome to arrive 30 minutes early to visit with the family. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to a charity of your choice.
