

SPRINGER, Robert Pincus, of Chester, VT, formerly of Natick, MA and Sunapee, NH. Entered into rest on January 12, 2016 at the age of 87. Bob was the dear son of the late Leo and Anna Springer and brother of the late Eileen Katz and the late Gerard Springer. A graduate of the University of Michigan and Harvard Law School, Bob was an attorney in Boston for many years. As an advisor to Governor Endicott Peabody, he was instrumental in establishing the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority and served on its first Board of Directors. He was an active member of the Anti-Defamation League and numerous civic organizations, and was a lifetime member of the NAACP. His large and loving family was the pride of his life. Predeceased by his loving wife of 39 years, Nesha Bass Springer, Bob will be missed terribly by his beloved wife Carolyn Sobel, children Nancy Springer Westendorf, Mark Springer and his wife Nancy, Carrie Streim and her husband Eliot, Stephen Springer and his wife Deanna, his adoring grandchildren Leah and her husband Matthew, Michael, Daniel, Anna, Sarah and her husband Kevin, Alex, Emily, and Harper, and his beloved great-grandchildren Charles and Abigail. Services at Temple Beth David, 7 Clapboardtree Street, Westwood, MA on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at 12 Noon. Interment will be private. Memorial observance to be held immediately following services at the home of Mark and Nancy Springer. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his memory may be donated to Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Boston, 333 Nahanton St., Newton, MA 02459.
