Roberta passed away May 15, 2022 in North Andover at 98 years old. Born on September 6, 1923 in Boston, the eldest daughter of Maurice and Esther (Feinberg) Weisman, Bobbie spent her formative years growing up in Roxbury with her younger sister Katherine (Kay) who survives her.
She graduated Girl’s Latin School in 1941 and then Radcliffe College in 1943. Her Fine Arts degree led her to work in Advertising in both New York and Boston. After the war she met the love of her life, Howard Richard, upon his return from service in the Pacific and they were married in 1947.
They had four children, Louis W. and Jan A. (Richard) Trueblood, who predeceased her and Myles J. and Jill V., who survive her. She also leaves four grandchildren, Kezia, Jennifer, Michael, and Stephanie as well as son-in law Chris Trueblood and daughter- in-law Sharon Richard.
She had an amazing life full of family, learning and charity work. She and Howie were a perfect couple and they modeled for their children a thoroughly equal partnership long before it was fashionable. Their marriage lasted until Howie’s passing in late 2001, after she lovingly cared for him in his final years of ill health. She was ever the kind, patient, and adoring mother to her children.
Bobbie had returned to school mid-life at Brandeis and garnered advanced degrees in Mediterranean Studies. She travelled the world fulfilling her interest in those ancient cultures. She also did extensive charity work with such organizations at ORT, Hadassah, the Temple Mishkan Tefila Sisterhood, the Brandeis University Women’s Committee and CJP.
Though she battled dementia in the last decade of her life, even that formidable foe couldn’t diminish her grace, vivacity, and kindness. It was a life extraordinarily well lived and those whose lives she touched will miss her greatly.
