Ruth Sara (Curhan) Cope

Ruth Sara Cope (nee Curhan), of Columbia, Maryland, passed away on April 27, 2025, at the age of 86.

She is survived by her cherished daughter, Sharon (David) Moavenzadeh; and her adoring grandchildren, Joshua Moavenzadeh, Spencer Moavenzadeh, and Jessica Cope. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Stuart Cope; her devoted son, Lawrence Cope; her dear brothers, Allen Curhan and Barry Curhan; and her loving parents, Gertrude and Nathan Curhan.

Ruth possessed a quiet inner strength, grace, wisdom, and humor. She was on the Board of Trustees of Temple Emanuel in Boston, MA and was an active member of the congregation of Temple Isaiah in Fulton, MD. Ruth was an advocate for women's rights. She took joy in traveling, learning, and being surrounded by loved ones. She will be remembered for the love and support she brought to her family and friends. Her smile will continue to shine in our hearts.

Funeral services will be held at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon, MA on April 30 at 2:45pm.

The family will be sitting shiva after the service in Chestnut Hill, MA between 5:30 - 8:30 pm.
