
Ruth C. Robinson passed away at 86 on Saturday July 5th at her home at Brooksby Village in Peabody, Massachusetts. Born in Brookline, MA, she was the daughter of Harry Nayor and Rose Rofelson, and younger sister of Charles F. Nayor and Bernice Ross. She attended Brookline High School and the Katherine Gibbs School. Ruth was married to Harold Gorin in 1948 and together they had two children, Harriet Lockett of Framingham and Norman W. Gorin of Wellesley. Her first marriage ended in divorce and she married William (Bill) Conroy in 1967. Ruth and Bill had a full and adventurous life together until Bill was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's in 1980 at the age of 53. Their struggles with Alzheimer's were featured in a cover story published in Newsweek which helped promote awareness of this tragic disease. Ruth met her third husband, Robert Robinson while attending an Alzheimer's support group where Robert was dealing with his wife's illness. Sharing a common bond, their relationship blossomed into a romance which lasted over two decades. They were married in Hawaii in 1998. Their life together was filled with a love of the outdoors as they spent winters skiing with Waterville Valley's "silver streakers" and summers hiking in New Hampshire. Ruth is survived by her husband Robert Robinson, her daughter Harriet Lockett, her son and daughter-in-law, Norm and Amy Gorin, her grandchildren, Daniel McKenzie, Jeremy Lockett, Rose Lockett, David, Andrew and William Gorin and her great-grandchildren, Kathryn McLean, Aizhaneiya McKenzie, Shanelis Deleon-Lockett, Alexis Deleon-Lockett and Isabela Cedeno. Funeral Services will be held at Temple Beth Elohim in Wellesley, MA on Tuesday, July 8th at 2:00pm. Following the service, memorial observance will be held at the home of Norm and Amy Gorin until 5:00 PM and continuing from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
