AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Sidney B. Davis

Avis de décès de Sidney B. Davis
AUX SOINS DE

Levine Chapels

Sidney B. Davis of Naples, FL passed away on February 13, 2026. He was 95. Sid was formerly of Rochester, NY, and Jamestown, NY, also with dual citizenship in Canada. Sid was born on August 30, 1930, the only child of Doris and Phillip Davis of Hamilton, ONT. Canada and Jamestown, NY. He attended Jamestown HS and Syracuse U. graduating with a B.S. in Business. He was drafted into the U.S. Army halfway through college, during the Korean War and served from 1951-53 as an expert rifleman and was a corporal in Germany, doing administration, with the Fifth Field Artillery in Big Red One Division. After college, he managed a business in Indiana, worked with his cousin David Davis and then partnered with his cousin Joe Davis in Valley Wiping Cloth, Wilkes-Barre, PA, a company that made and distributed wiping cloth to industries. He sold his partnership and retired to Naples, FL with his beloved wife, Diane, in 2004.

Sid was an officer of Purchasing & Management Assn., Rochester, NY, was Board President of the Tobey Woods Condo Assn. in Pittsford, NY, was a member of the Jewish Federation of Rochester, JFS and B'nai B'rith; he served on the Finance Committee of Collier's Reserve, Naples and was on the Board of The Naples Players for many years, receiving the “Unsung Hero" award there for having contributed his time and energy in many ways, in countless hours over the decades as well as their Lifetime Membership Award. He was always grateful for being able to feel productive in his later years and enjoyed being affiliated with an organization of outstanding rank in the U.S. as well as the camaraderie he experienced with others over the years.

Sid was known as one of the most easy-going fellows around. He would help someone at the drop of a hat and his kind and gentle nature was admired by all. He was never lacking for activity. He spent many years downhill skiing, having learned in upstate NY, and enjoyed the ski trails in Aspen, Purgatory, and Vail. He biked with groups or friends on a regular basis, worked out with amazing discipline every morning, enjoyed "adventure" trips of whitewater rafting, horseback riding or skiing with his friends, played golf until shoulder surgery stifled that pursuit and he hated giving up his tennis game as well. One of Sid's favorite pastimes was sailing. He co-owned a sailboat on Lake Canandaigua, NY for many years with his dear friend Stan Dilloway. He loved to sit quietly and read a book and had an endless appetite for knowledge of many subjects. He studied the maps and loved learning from the articles in his National Geographic magazines, but he enjoyed biographies and mystery books as well.

Sid is survived by loving and devoted wife Diane. He is also survived by his three children from his first marriage, Lisa P. Davis Larry; Shelley D. Wheeler (Robin); David Davis (Beth). He was father to Diane's children, Leslie Caer Amadora and Adam S. Yawnick (Aimee). He was grandfather to Nicholas & Cameron Larry, Noah Wheeler(Nicole), Kian Reagan-Caer and Jace Yawnick and great grandfather to Winifred Nora Wheeler. He is predeceased by beloved first cousin David Davis (Beverly) and is survived by first cousin Joseph Davis (Carol), many nieces and nephews, as well as sisters-in-law Dr. Arlene Seal, Judith Lambert (Richard), Lynne March (Harold) and brother-in-law Kenneth Barron (Marian).

The family is grateful for all the caregivers at Moorings Park and Avow Hospice who provided support and care for Sid.

Sid was loved by all and had a solid gold heart. He will be remembered always as a good man and he will be missed.

A private family service will be held in Boston. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sid's memory may be made to The Naples Players, 701 Fifth Ave., So. Naples, FL 34102 or to Disabled American Veterans or to a charity of your choice.
