Stanley L. Markowitz

Beloved husband, father, grampy/grandpa and friend, Stanley Lewis Markowitz, 76, of Framingham, MA passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 24th, 2021. Stan was born in Brooklyn, NY on December 12th, 1944. He spent his childhood growing up in Queens, before graduating from Van Buren High School and Attending City College of New York. It was there where he met and married the love of his life, Barbara Stadlen Markowitz, on June 10th, 1967. After graduating, they relocated to Massachusetts so that Stan could attend the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to pursue a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

Stan spent almost his entire career working as a micro-computer specialist for the Cabot Corporation in Billerica, before retiring. In his free time, Stan was a computer enthusiast, and he was always tinkering with his own computers - while often fielding questions and assisting his many friends with computer related questions or problems. A devoted friend, Stan would always be the first to offer his time and help for anyone in need. He and Barbara were also avid travelers, who enjoyed trips all around the world. He loved experiencing different cultures and cuisines, and making lifelong friends while on some of these trips. He also enjoyed visiting various museums while day tripping throughout New England, and while overseas on his many adventures. His greatest joy, however, was spending time with his family- including his wife, children, grandchildren, and extended family- who while separated by distance, he always maintained close contact with through family events and get togethers.

Stan is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 53 years, Barbara, of Framingham, MA; His daughter, Bonnie, also of Framingham; and his son, David (and wife Jessica) of Auburn, MA. He also leaves his cherished grandchildren, Rory, Michaela, Liam & Rhys Markowitz; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins- and his brother and sister in law, Phil and Judy Pfeffer, whom he considered his siblings.

Stan is preceded in death by his mother and father, Ben and Ruth Markowitz (Temes), his stepfather George Temes, and his mother and father in law, Morris and Marian Stadlen, who considered him their own son.

Due to Covid restrictions, the family will be having a private burial service.
