John,  Your dad was a kind man and wonderful storyteller.  It doesn't seem that long ago that you and I were playing in the woods on Vine Street.  Sonny and I got to see each other at Harvard events, and I looked forward to our hugs during the alumni procession at Commencement each year.  He will be sorely missed.  I regret that Hurricane Irene prevented me from getting to the funeral. With sincere condolences to you and your family, David Schlakman

My husband, Bob Cook, and Sonny were friends, and knew each other thru their war experiences as well as thru WTC in Weston. Bob often referred to Sonny as holder of the "Order of the Purple Bottom" and himself (Bob) a holder of a regular Purple Heart - an allusion to the important analysis work - a "desk job" - that Sonny did in Paris during the war, and the fact that Bob was in the infantry in SE France & Western Germany.  

Sometimes Bob and I would be driving in Jamaica Plain, and Bob would say, "That's where I watched Sonny play a tennis match against..." ...many memories.

Bob died in June 2011 at the age of 86.  In his mind, he had himself and Sonny in a race to see who would outlive who - it was all in friendly jest - and now we know, but they passed within three months of each other.

I met Sonny several times at the club, and was saddened at his passing.

May your family be as richly blessed in future, as you have been by the legacy Sonny left.

As a fairly recent employee of Rodman Insurance, it was a pleasure knowing Sonny.  I had great admiration and respect for him. He was a wonderful role model and leaves a great legacy.

I owe having my job and this wonderful office culture to Sonny.  He will be greatly missed by many. He was a class act.

The definition of "gentleman".  I will miss seeing him in the office.

I am fortunate enough to have been touched by Sonny; he is and always will be a remarkable man who touched so many people.  He was a walking historian and was always willing to share a story; the world is a better place for knowing him and I am grateful for the few years I was able to share a small piece.  My most sincere condolences to you and your family, my prayers are with you.

Barb and I were so sad to read of your Dad's passing John. He certainly lived a long and impactful life. Our thoughts and condolances.

Dearest Rodman Family,

Sunny was just a wonderful man. He had such a love of life and was so proud of his family and yet so humble of his own accomplishmnents. His stories of Harvard and Tennis and "his Helen" were wonderful.  He was a gentleman  every moment he spent with us at NBOC. His housemates and caregivers will miss him greatly. Thank you for sharing Sunny with us, it was an honor to care for him.

Condolences to the family. I remember Uncle Sonny when I was in high school and good friends with he niece Ellen. He was always very kind and generous to me as a relative stranger. May his memory be for a blessing.

A truly remarkable man and a wonderful friend - honored to know him, I will miss him always.
