Anthony Andrew Bergado - A husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to all passed away
unexpectedly July 30th, 2021 at his home in Brooklyn, NY.
Born April 6th, 1948 in Brooklyn, NY to Simo Bergado and Antoinette Lopa
Educated at Westinghouse High School, he was wise beyond his years and always a pleasure
to talk too. He had a wealth of knowledge on many subjects and never hesitated to share it
with you.
Anthony spent over 30 plus years with the New York Department of Transportation where he
recently retired from.
He was best known as the patriarch of the family, his love for Brooklyn, loud music, handball,
bicycling and his views on politics.
He was predeceased by his parents Simo Bergado and Antoinette Lopa
He is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Alberta Bergado, his brother Manuel Guillipo
(Marie) his children Dion Hopkins (Dionne), Kibibi Oyo (Obaba), Shanelle Livers (Marlon),
Nichole Bergado, Stephanie Bergado (Lindsay) and Angelique Bergado (Alex). His 8
grandchildren N’dambi Oyo (Nate), Wallahi Oyo, Kayla Hopkins, Isaiah Hopkins, Sierra
Benthone, Myles Benthone, Nnonye’ Livers and Avianna Jackson. He is also survived by his 4
great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends who he loved dearly.
His memory will be cherished by all who knew him. Anthony Andrew Bergado was truly one of
kind. He will forever be known as “The Mayor of 266 Washington Ave”.
