

Bruno Babich was born on March 8, 1937 and passed away on June 14, 2025. His son Joseph and daughter Rene were by his side when he died. He leaves behind his dearest partner Claudia Brkaric, children Rene Babich (Dumas) and Joseph Babich, sons-in-law Ed Dumas and Jeff Yorio, grandchildren Zoe and Alex Dumas and Aidan Yorio, brother Nino Babich, as well as 6 nieces and nephews and many grand nieces and nephews. Bruno was predeceased by Louisa (Yurman), his wife of 43 years, his parents Gabriella (Bubolich) and John Babich, in-laws Maria (Yurman) and John Bachich and brothers Ettore and Renato Babich.
Born in Istria, Bruno spent the first years of his life at his beloved Yadrina. As a young man, he discovered his talent for making things with his hands. The first trade he learned was upholstery and he became a master craftsman in the vocation. During his career, Bruno also mastered the art of carpentry. He spent many years working as a commercial decorator at the New York Coliseum and later at the Javits Center.
Bruno’s family was the source of his joy in life. His friends and extended family meant the world to him. He stayed active in the Istrian community and rarely missed a gathering where you could always find him on the dance floor.

A visitation for Bruno will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Joseph G. Duffy / M.J. Smith Sons, 255 Ninth Street, Brooklyn, NY 11215. A Catholic mass will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 245 Prospect Park W, Brooklyn, NY 11215, with burial immediately following at Greenwood Cemetery, Fifth Avenue and 25th Street in Brooklyn.
