Catherine McGovern

McGovern – Catherine (Kay) died on 12/3/16. Beloved daughter of the late James & Catherine. Beloved sister of the late James, Farrell (Marcella), Francis (Doris), Luke (Eugenia), Jerry and Donald (Anne). Loving aunt to James (Deirdre), Cathleen (Mike), Stephen (Mary) Eugenia (Sean), David, Owen (Erika), Robert (Ali), Maura, Kimberly (Robert), Kevin (Ewa), Megan (John), Michael (Dina), Beth (Wilson), Thomas, Edward (Pam), Pamela and Paul. Loving great-aunt to 15 grand-nieces and 14 grand-nephews. Dear friend to many.

Kay spent her life working hard running her extensive florist businesses for many years. During that time, she served a term as President of the FTD and was an active member of several floral associations. She was a lifelong resident of Park Slope and was involved with several institutions. Kay served as President of the Montauk Club and was on the Board of Trustees at Methodist Hospital. She was an active member of St. Savior’s parish and the Red Cross.

Kay thoroughly enjoyed her many friends and her large family, and made everyone who came into contact with her feel special. She enjoyed spending time with her loved ones both in Brooklyn and “up in the country”, in Windham, NY. Aunt Kay was the matriarch of the McGovern family and will be missed terribly.
