

Eileen Marie Ford (nee Byrne) was born in 1926 in Queens, New York. After graduating from Forest Hills High School in 1941 she entered the Manhattanville College of the Sacred Heart in the class of “49” in the United States Cadet Corps becoming a Registered Nurse in 1948.
After meeting George G. Ford at a Valentines Day Dance, they were married on November 12, 1948. They raised five children in West Babylon, New York: George G. of Hooper Bay, Alaska; Henry T. of Woodstock, NY; Richard F. of Houston, Tx; Regina Ford Cahill of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Marybeth Tomka of Austin, Tx who gave her nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Eileen returned to nursing in 1964 at the Berkshire Nursing Home and worked there until George retired from Grumman Aerospace. They then began their travels to Virginia, Texas and ultimately settled in North Carolina.
After George’s death in 2000, Eileen returned to New York City and eventually resided at Cumberland Gardens in Brooklyn, N.Y. She became an active parishioner at Augustine Church in Park Slope and a volunteer in the church’s food pantry. She also served as a member of the Residents’ Council at Cumberland Gardens.
