Ethel Spry

Born in Rocky Mount, NC, Ethel came to New York City in the 1930's where she met and married Emerson R. Spry Sr. Their union lasted until his death in 1965, produced 3 sons: Emerson Jr., Earl, and Ronald Spry. Earl and Ronald, both Vietnam Veterans, pre-deceased Ethel.

Ethel was also a grandmother to Ronald's children; Ronald Jr. and LaRonda Spry; Grandmother to Emerson's child: Jeremy Earl Spry; Great-Grandmother to LaRonda's children.

Ethel was a very cheerful person, devoted to family and friends. She still kept in contact with her cousin, Elaine Spry in Maryland by telephone. After her husband died, she went back to school and became a nurse's aide in a nursing home in Manhattan.

She will be sorely missed by Erica & Emerson Spry; all of her grandchildren, great grandchildren and her family of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
