

Jean was predeceased by her husband, John Alfred Thomas, in 2019, and son
Drew J. Thomas, in 1998. She is survived by her daughters, Laura Jean (son-in-law, Thomas R. Pietro), and Allison (son-in-law Kevin Foley); son Glenn (daughter-in-law Renata Thomas); grandchildren Justin and Kristina Pietro; Juliette, Adrianna, Olivia, and Robert Leonardo; Carolina, Mariana, and John Thomas; Taylor and Brittney Thomas; and great-grandchildren; Addison and Noah Pietro.
Jean was a graduate of Bishop McDonnell High School and St. John’s University.
She earned two master’s degrees from Long Island University. Married in 1953, Jean and John were inseparable for the whole of their 66-year marriage. They were fixtures in the Windsor Terrace neighborhood, their lifelong home. Jean served many years as an elementary school teacher at P.S. 107 and retired from the New York City Board of Education.
Jean and John loved traveling and their passion led them to wonderful destination experiences all over the world. They cherished lifelong friendships and travel with the friends of their playing card group that became a second family. They were very active in their beloved Holy Name parish, serving on many committees over the years and as Eucharistic Ministers. They attended mass nearly daily when they were able.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 11th, 7 to 9 PM, at Duffy Funeral Home, 255 9th Street, Brooklyn. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, February 12th, 10 AM, at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 245 Prospect Park West, Brooklyn.
