Joseph P. Markey

Joe Markey, a lifelong Park Slope resident, leaves an indelible impression on those who called him Son, Brother, Father, Husband, Grandfather, Neighbor & Friend. He is survived by his 6 children, Joseph P. Markey Jr., BethAnn and her husband Tom Kurahara, Stephen and his wife Jennifer Markey, Barbara Rowland, Melanie and her husband Keith Aiello, Keith Scott and his wife Brianne Markey. His brother James Markey and his wife Irta Markey, his sister-in-laws MaryAnn and her husband John Choynowski and his sister-in-law Elizabeth Connelly along with his adored nieces and nephews. Joe’s pride and joy was his 12 grandchildren, Valerie and Matthew Kurahara, Ian and Emma Markey, Allyson, Jack and Jason Rowland, Shane, Ryan and Justin Aiello, Cooper and Tyler Markey.

Joe lived a good, full life filled with love and laughter, anchored by his family and friends. Joe was preceded in death by loving parents, Aunts and Uncles. His cherished partner and wife Kathleen (Kay) (2003). His wonderful ‘son-in-law’, John Rowland (2017).

The family takes great comfort that they have been reunited again.

A Memorial Mass has been set for September 6th at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Saviour, 611 8th Ave.

An informal meet and greet has been set up by his children at the American Legion at 389 5th Ave between 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Neighbor and friends are invited to pop in at any time to say hello, tell a story, share a memory over a cup of coffee/tea.
