Marty and I were boyfriends in the early 90's. He was a wonderful, supportive, sweet man.I didn't know he passed. I thought of him today and decided to look him up. I'm so sorry and very sad to read this. My condolences to his loved ones. Jeff Roderiques 

I will miss the all too brief moments when we would run into each other and chat.  Always such a joyful person, Marty's happiness touched every person graced by his presence, there will be a noticeable void in the world without him. My sympathies to Marty's entire extended family, thank you for sharing him with the rest of us.

Condolences to the family.
Marty had a unique way of touching everyone's heart. His unconditional love for my son, Isaiah was heart warming his words of encouragement were touching.
Marty wrote a letter....of inspiration to Isaiah on one of our trips to Brooklyn. It hangs in Isaiah's room forever to remember our Brooklyn friend who saw a special person in Isaiah and put it on paper.

Marty, who i named Marteez, came into our families life  through my son, Derik. Marty was so unique, loving and caring. Marty truly had the biggest heart. 
He was magical and sparkling. He touched our hearts and we could never let him go. 
He became family instantly. He will be remembered forever and missed by his Colorado family , "The Flip Flops".

I met Marty at the 9th Ave Saloon. It's a bar not unlike Cheers. You sit down at happy hour, the bartender knows your drink. So many happy times there, Westside Steakhouse and sitting at his kitchen table for food, wine and laughter. I have great memories of you, Marty and am missing you.. Rest in peace.

My deepest heartfelt condolences to Marty’s family and many, many friends. The three words that come to mind when I think of him are the same as when I first met him 40 years ago: joy, kindness, and laughter.  Although I moved away from Brooklyn long ago, it was like no time had passed when I would occasionally see him. It was a true blessing to have such a gentle soul amongst us, and may he rest easy in heaven knowing how many lives he touched and how much he is loved.
