Michael F. Mooney

Michael F. Mooney, 94 passed peacefully at home on October 10, 2023 with his loving wife Mary (Nee Flanagan) at his side. Originally from Loughatorick, Galway, Ireland, Michael immigrated with family members and Mary to the US in 1959. The couple married in 1960 in Brooklyn, NY and raised three children, Michael (spouse Dotty), Ann Marie (spouse Danny) and Brian (spouse Kerry). Michael and Mary have eight grandchildren, Morgan, Michael, Max, Mackenzie, Caroline, Liam, Bridget and Maeve, and a great grandson, Matteo. Michael served 31 years with the Brooklyn Union Gas Company and was a beloved bartender at Mooney’s Pub for over 40 years. He is survived by his sister, Bridie Tully, who is the youngest of seven children born to Patrick and Mary Mooney. In lieu of flowers, donations will be gladly accepted on his behalf for the Immaculate Heart of Mary Food Pantry. Viewing is scheduled for Thursday, October 19, 2023 from 3pm-7pm at Joseph G. Duffy Funeral Home 255 9th Street Brooklyn, NY 11215. There will be a funeral mass on Friday, October 20, 2023 at 10:45am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church 2805 Fort Hamilton Parkway Brooklyn, NY 11218.
