Though I did not know Father Dennis personally, I admired his passion in taking on a cause and his candor, his willingness to "tell it like it is" out of respect and love for us fellow Catholics.  Thank you, Father Dennis, you will not be forgotten.

Rev. Msgr. Mark Lane, Vicar General of the Diocese of Richmond, attended the funeral of Father Dennis on Saturday in Brooklyn, NY. Father Dennis will long be remembered for his ministry in the Diocese of Richmond, especially his many years at Holy Comforter Parish in Charlottesville. May Father Dennis rest in peace, Amen.

Father Dennis was & always will be a GREAT blessing to the parishioners of St. George in Scottsville, VA. As our pastor he prepared us for the transition to become part of St. Thomas Aquinas University of Virginia parish. Without his  determined efforts over several years St. George might not exist today. The parish grew under his leadership & continues to grow under the Dominican's at St. Thomas

We loved Father Dennis for his reverence, his insights, and his sense of humor, but most of all for his ability to "tell it like it is, not to mince words and to say what he thought".  This is rare today and we will miss it and we will miss him.  A unique individual.  We pray that God will welcome him into His Kingdom.

I went to St Matt's with Dennis from kindergarten to 8th grade. It is strange that I just thought about him a few days ago, wondering if he was ok.  Now I know he is ok and with God. My sympathy to all your family. Joanne (Murphy) Pappalardo

We continue to be so very blessed to have you as a member of our family.  Your love and caring were equal to your humor and intellect.  You played a significant part in the lives of many.  Thus, your passing is an immeasurable loss.  So, fly high Dennis.  You have gone home.  You will forever remain in our hearts, dear brother and friend.  May you rest in peace, in the loving arms of God whom you have faithfully served.  Till we meet again.

Fr. Dennis will always be in my heart. He taught me that it was ok to praise the Lord your way... sing off key, clap & dance.... but make a joyful noise unto the Lord and praise him with all you heart. I know you are shaking a tambourine up there. With Love, Always.

I'm so sorry to hear of Fr Dennis passing. He was always kind and happy. He is in the arms of our Father now.

My memories of Dennis and the McAuliffe family go back many, many years.  Although we haven't been in contact in, what seems like a lifetime, please know that my family and I hold all good wishes for you as you send Dennis to his reward.

You've finished the race, buddy; now enter into the joy the Lord has prepared for you.  The laughter in the world is somewhat muted with your homegoing, but know it will erupt when memories and stories about you are recounted.  I am so sorry I will not be able to be with the group on Saturday.  I'll certainly be there in spirit.  The memories of how you celebrated our 25th ordination anniversary give content to what will transpire.  Eternal peace to you from your typist, classmate and friend.

I will always treasure my friendship with Fr. D [who frequently urged me to call him "Dennis", but I knew my Italian grandmother would turn over in her grave if I should EVER do such a thing]. 
In our years together at Holy Comforter, we laughed together, cried together, and had our share of GREAT banters between us. 
And what a treat to talk with him whenever he called these last few years. 
I will miss him terribly but know he is in a far better place. "I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die."  John 11:25-26
